Designed for Riley, a young man seeking independence, the apartment balances aesthetic warmth with practical, inclusive features and sustainable materials. Central to the design is the open-plan kitchen, the heart of Riley’s home, which features ample preparation space and accessible storage.

Cork flooring was chosen for its resilience, sound absorption, and soft texture, not only supports Riley’s movement with a wheelchair but is also a carbon-negative material, underscoring a commitment to sustainability. The bathroom continues the minimalist, Scandinavian aesthetic with contrasting tiles and finishes, creating a modern and masculine feel. Custom plywood joinery seamlessly connects the bathroom to the rest of the apartment, enhancing both functionality and visual cohesion.

Each detail, from the curves of the kitchen island to the ergonomic contours of the custom bed, is tailored to Riley’s needs, balancing raw, natural materials with a touch of playfulness.
